<b>Budget News:</b> Corporate Britain expects bad news in the budget. By Dawn Smith

British companies expect Gordon Brown' upcoming budget to increase their tax burden, says a survey of UK-listed companies by accountancy firm Baker Tilley.

The survey, which took place in January and February, asked 100 companies with capitalisations between £5 million and £2 billion what they expect from the budget, and what impact the government's policies have had on their business so far.

What a lot of tosh. As my work has shown, these companies have enjoyed big tax cuts over the last few years, unlike most ordinary people.

Why do they expect continual tax cuts but demand better services from government, services that underpin their profitability?

An air of reality would be welcome instead of this sort of nonsense.
