Optician Dollond & Aitchison face a multi-million pound tax bill following a defeat in the European Court of Justice over contact lens packages sent from Jersey to end users in the UK.

Goods sent from the Channel Islands to the UK are regarded as being imported and VAT is generally due on imports.
