Falconer threatens clamping for fine defaulters

People flouting court fines "could have their vehicles clamped, be refused credit, or have the outstanding debt automatically taken from their earnings or benefts", as a result of proposals announced by Constitutional Affairs Secretary Lord Falconer on Monday. In addition, magistrates' courts will be able to use the Police National Computer to track down defaulters with criminal records.
