Haines Watts sets up corporate finance wing

Top 20 accountancy firm Haines Watts has created a new subsidiary to offer corporate finance advice and services from seven regional offices.

HW Corporate Finance is the result of a year-long drive by the firm to recruit corporate finance specialist. Seven partners lead a 30-strong team in the following areas:

  • Scotland. Based in Glasgow, the practice is led by Ian McDougall, who joined the firm in 2002.
  • The North East unit, operating out of Newcastle and Darlington, is led by Chris Scott
  • In Yorkshire, HW Corporate Finance headed by Leeds-based partner Teresa Fiorentino.
  • The north west managing partner is former PwC financier Sean Moriarty, based in Manchester.
  • Alan Gardener is the director of HW Corporate Finance in Birmingham.
  • In the South West and Wales, the Cardiff-based managing partner is Adrian Godfrey, previously with PwC.
  • HW Corporate Finance in the South is headed by managing partner Charles Whelan, who has 14 years' experience in corporate finance and worked with both Deloitte and Smith & Williamson.

    HW Corporate Finance said it expects to complete more than 35 deals during 2005, with a focus on management buy-outs, acquisitions and disposals as well as financial due diligence.
