Short tax return sent to some directors in error

HM Revenue and Customs has apologised for issuing the short tax return to a number of company directors.

"Unfortunately a system error in the selection criteria has led to the form being sent inappropriately to some company directors, who would not normally qualify for a short tax return," HMRC said in a statement.

"We have identified the cases where company directors have been sent a short tax return as a result of this error and are writing to apologise to these customers.
