SMEs 'not considered by red tape checks'
The impact of regulatory red tape on small companies is not being properly assessed by the government, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) claims.
According to the employers' organisation, around 16% of Regulatory Impact Assessments (RIAs) currently have no test to judge the impact on small firms and of those that do, only 8% assign additional costs to small businesses.

The tax system keeps getting more and more complicated. They should reduce the tax legislation considerabley.

Additionally in each case there should be some post hoc analysis of whether the original RIA got it right, and if not, why not. This could then be used to improve both the RIA process and the regulations themselves.
