CCH launches new e-learning platform for continuing professional development
28 July 2005 - State of the art e-CPD environment includes innovative 'webrides' giving subscribers a virtual tour of all relevant websites covering a related area
CCH Professional Development, a leading provider of continuing professional development (CPD) launches e-CPD, an advanced e-learning platform for accountants and finance professionals. Operating in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, new CCH e-CPD courses will begin from August 2005.
All professional accountancy bodies in the UK require members to commit to CPD, and the new e-CPD platform from CCH will enable ICAEW members to keep abreast of the latest developments in tax, auditing and accounting. The advanced platform technology has been developed by Wolters Kluwer owned sister company Digital Spirit, who also power the intranet based global e-learning platform for over 7,000 Wolters Kluwer employees worldwide, supporting the company's own employee development programmes.
Douglas Broom, Director of CCH Magazines comments 'We believe our new e-CPD platform is the most advanced in Europe. With improved functionality and a full endorsement from the ICAEW we look forward to serving our existing clients better and welcoming many new subscribers over the coming months.'
A key new feature of e-CPD is the free 'webride' facility which takes users on a virtual tour of all the relevant websites related to a particular subject area. For example, an IFRS webride will visit all the related links on the topic without the user having to do any searching.
Designed to save time and be very easy to use, e-CPD from CCH consists of a series of online lectures which are divided into the three key areas of Tax, Audit and Accountancy, delivering easy to digest chunks of information. Each month, subscribers receive 2 hours of e-learning on the latest developments in their fields, delivered by mainstream experts. Developed with an appreciation of the busy schedules of accounting professionals, each standalone module no longer than 15 minutes.
Existing CCH Professional Development Clients include Big Four accountancy firms, medium sized practices and businesses across a wide range of industries. Supporting its e-learning programme, CCH also run approximately 400 events across the UK each year, ensuring that accountancy practices have access to both on-line learning and face to face support wherever they are based.
