An unfair impression
I HATE the public perception of accountants as "grey boring people".
I played football as a semi professional, I have raced motorcycles, and I still sail whenever I can. Before becoming an accountant I saw active service in the army, and for 30 years when not sorting someone's tax out, I've been defending people charged with rape, burglary, assault, attempted murder, and three murder cases. Whilst still at school I played guitar in a rock band.
I still drive powerful cars, and can often be seen in the office wearing jeans, T shirt and leather jacket before climbing on my bike to visit a client.
Grey ? I dont think so.
The problem is that there ARE some "grey" accountants, and they give the rest of the profession a bad name.
Good luck to Chris - go for it. One thing is certain, if he's haf as succesful as Subo he will never have to worry about tax returns (except his own) again.
Accountant's are fun
I must say I watched the show and I was really proud of Christopher. It shows that we must never judge a book by its cover. He definetly gets my vote and it would be great if he could win.
Yes indeed a lot of people assume that accountants are boring, and we know its not true.
I for instance also do some singing and I have been Crowned Confidence Queen and I use the song and dance routine I create as a way of teaching children and adults how to be confident!
The other day was very interesting when someone booked me to do my act for their AGM as a way of adding something different to the occasion. Those attened really enjoyed it and got involved in dancing and singing the confidence song.
Good luck to Christopher!
