CLS is an established Charitable Trust with over a decade’s operational experience, dedicated to providing leisure and recreation services for local communities. The organisation has invested in the Exchequer Charity Edition from IRIS Enterprise Software as its principal financial system.

IRIS has been working with organisations in the fund-raising sector for many years, and has built a solid understanding of the industry's specific needs, enabling it to enhance its business and accounting solution accordingly.

Surrey based CLS has a mission to deliver high quality community leisure services, reduce barriers to participation and provide excellent value for money. With that in mind, the finance team at CLS decided to upgrade its financial management solution from AccPac Advantage, which they felt looked dated and lacked effective drill down functionality and easy consolidation.

Group Accountant John Radford comments, “We looked at the latest version of AccPacc, Sage MMS and SAP Business One; narrowing it down to Exchequer, who won on most aspects of functionality. Currently we spend a lot of time re-keying data between systems and would like to improve our efficiency by limiting this task.”

CLS will use Exchequer to run the purchasing system, from requisitions, through to electronic authorisation, conversion to invoice and paying suppliers – all with minimal data entry. Their booking systems and bank data will be imported into Exchequer, ensuring a seamless transition to the new system in the next few months.

The Charity Edition of Exchequer now includes as standard Core Financials, Report Writer and Commitment Accounting (allowing you to keep track of actual and projected costs, at all times). IRIS recognises that the requirements of SORP have caused many charities to seek more comprehensive, flexible and Euro-compliant accounting software.

John continues, “We were very impressed that Exchequer would give us all the functionality we required, from a well proven and respected supplier at a competitive price. We wanted to integrate the manual process of purchase ordering into our financial system to facilitate commitment accounting. It is very important to us that all information should be readily accessible to managers for reporting, budgeting, planning and control.”

In conclusion, John comments “We are expecting to see cost benefits associated with reduced input, enforcing authorisation levels at purchasing and faster flow of management data as a result of adopting Exchequer. The IRIS team has delivered superb demonstrations, tailored to our industry, so we are fully aware of the benefits the system will provide.”
