• Online user help facility wins ISTC Award
• Winner of Instructional category at the UK Technical Communication Awards
• Organised by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators

CODA Group, the finance systems specialist, has won a prestigious industry award for its new on-demand accounting system, CODA 2go. It was awarded for best instructional documentation in this year’s UK Technical Communication Awards, organised by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators (ISTC) for its CODA 2go Online Help facility.

CODA 2go is CODA’s new SaaS (software as a service) accounting service, the first to be built entirely on salesforce.com’s Force.com Platform-as-a-Service. Its Online Help facility is an important element of the usability of the business application, guiding both new and experienced users through the service. It provides a sequence of help topics to enable system administrators to set up CODA 2go, and provides conceptual, procedural and reference topics to enable users, such as accountants and data entry clerks, to use the service. The help facility also enables users to filter for topics relevant to their specific job function.

The awards winners were announced last night at a gala dinner at the annual ISTC Conference, the largest UK event for technical communicators, held between September 23rd and 25th at Eastwood Hall, Nottingham. CODA 2go Online Help was voted the winner based on its well-structured, well-presented and well-written format.

“We are extremely proud to win this prestigious industry award,” said Debbie Ashton, Product Director at CODA. “The CODA 2go development team have worked very hard to deliver an industry leading SaaS application and industry leading help text to support it. Although the service is generally very easy to use, it is essential that users can find information when they need it to guide them through the product for a seamless user experience. Clearly the judges recognised that we have developed an effective tool in guiding product users, and we are delighted by this endorsement.”
