Microsoft reports new Zero day hole in Excel
A Microsoft security advisory has been published warning of a newly discovered vulnerability that could allow remote code to be installed in PCs, but has witheld details of the flaw. John Stokdyk reports.
The company usually deals with this sort of thing in its second Tuesday of the month security bulletin. But the latest, out-of-sequence advisory said the company is investigating reports of the new vulnerability, which could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Excel file.
