M&A activity showing steady recovery

  • Figures from PKF show deal values increasing in Q4 of 2009
  • The top ten deals table was dominated by bail-out transactions
  • Distressed driven deal making was less pronounced than expected

UK mergers and acquisitions are making a healthy recovery after a disastrous year, according to figures from PKF Accountants and business advisers.

Deal values for the final quarter of 2009 were up to £48.2bn – following a massive drop in Q1 from £44.5bn to £13bn and a steady decline in Q2 to £8.3bn – although government bail-outs should be taken into account.
