Sage acquires IntelligentApps

Sage this week added business intelligence specialist IntelligentApps to its ever-expanding collection of software company acquisitions.

While Sage may have pioneered the acquire-to-grow business model in the UK, there is a me-too element to the IntelligentApps deal. Both Sage's biggest rivals, Microsoft Business Solutions and Systems Union, have already acquired BI developers.

In market terms, IntelligentApps is a natural move for Sage - it has already tailored its Excel-based analytical engine to work with Sage Line 200 and Line 500.
