Tutorial. MS Query and Sage #1 - how to setup Import External Data. By David Carter

It’s about time we looked seriously at Microsoft Query. Query is an add-in which enables you to get data out of your accounts package (Sage, Pegasus, Exchequer etc) and into Excel. This is the first in a series of tutorials on how to use Query with Sage Line 50 and Sage Instant Accounting.

Sage Demo Data

I set this tutorial aside for CPD - finally looked at it over 7 months later!
However, good article David - v. useful, no doubt saved me a lot of time.

May I just highlight one small item to assist future readers re 'Set up the demonstration company as a data source'?
Sage demo data companies usually require a user ID to enter (although no password as you correctly say). The ID should be "manager"

Also, although I didn't need the system disks for my 2003, I did have to "Install it now". But that may be my particular installation.

Thanks again for the article.

PS Just seen reference to "manager" in T2 - so you're aware already!

Hi Katie
I've only just started dabbling with Query but here goes - I'm more of a Sage person.
Silly point probably - but I assume the year end on Sage to July 2007 has been run - otherwise 2007-08 data will be sitting in future.
Secondly, as query seems to be accessing history data, can you refresh the query paths?
