Professional and commercial accountancy specialist, Star Computers, has launched a new CRM (Contact Relationship Management) system, designed to help firms balance delivery of high quality client service alongside opportunities for revenue generation.

The CRM system is tightly integrated with the Star Practice Management solution and draws detailed information about clients, contacts, jobs, marketing communications and new business development campaigns from a single master database ' the same Microsoft SQL Server database that feeds the time and billing, job and resource management, business intelligence and document management modules.

'This does away with multiple and personal databases ' which are often poorly maintained ' bringing together a wealth of up to date, accurate information that can be shared across the entire firm, to the benefit of clients and everyone within the practice. The CRM system helps the firm to understand, and in some cases predict, client needs and expectations, on which proactive, mutually beneficial relationships can be built,' says David Blechner, Managing Director of Star Computers Limited.

The system can be used to identify specific audiences for marketing campaigns to create opportunities for regular client contact, without becoming irritating through duplication or badly targeted services. On-screen wizards guide users step-by-step through set up and delivery of marketing projects, including production and distribution of mailings ' either electronically by email or by traditional direct mail postal campaigns.

Once a campaign has been initiated, the CRM module's event management process tracks progress, captures feedback and provides users with the information they need when managing marketing events. These could be an in-house seminar, external conference, business briefing, retirement planning workshop and so on.

The module's relationship management facilities enable firms to attach notes and activities to individual clients, contacts and jobs ' and each note can have an associated follow-up activity, assigned to any partner, manager or staff member. Activities and action dates can be flagged automatically to the appropriate individual while the due date can also be set to appear in their online calendar Outlook Tasks, as an additional reminder.

'A healthy sales pipeline is essential for any firm of accountants ' large or small ' but Star CRM goes way beyond sales and marketing, permeating the entire practice and improving the effectiveness of client interaction. This has the associated effect of helping to increase revenues, as well as improving practice profitability,' Blechner adds.
