Business and accounting software to simplify charity's financial reporting and automate manual processes

Age Concern Leicester has purchased IRIS Enterprise Software's Exchequer business and accounting software from reseller, Oak Software Ltd. The new system will significantly improve the speed and quality of management reporting information within the organisation and will help to ensure that it is compliant with the latest reporting standards.

Age Concern supports people over the age of fifty-five in the UK, ensuring that they get the most from life, providing essential services such as day care and information and advice. It also campaigns on issues like age discrimination and pensions, and works to influence public opinion and government policy about older people.

Age Concern Leicester through it's paid staff and volunteers provides a wide range of services and facilities for the benefit of retired and older people in the city of Leicester, including daycare centres and supervised activities.

The charity had identified that the need to implement a new business and accounting system was critical and selected the product offering from IRIS Enterprise Software on the strength of its core financial modules including the General Ledger, the Sales and Purchase Ledgers and the Cashbook, which are all designed to streamline the report writing process for users.

Richard Willcocks, Finance Manager for Age Concern Leicester, comments, 'Since the implementation by Oak, Exchequer has provided us with considerable time and cost savings. Where this is most apparent is in the level of reporting information ' we can run highly detailed departmental reports at cost centre level and extract relevant data swiftly and with a minimum of fuss. One of the most compelling reasons for purchasing Exchequer was the charity discount that was made available to us. As a charity, funds are limited and we have to try and get value for money for everything we spend on. This discount not only made Exchequer affordable to us, but also gave it a pricing edge over some of the other accounting solutions we considered.'

Another key feature of the Exchequer system is that it provides unrivalled 'drill-down' functionality allowing interrogation of the system down to the lowest level and 'sideways' drill to view all related postings. The ability to easily navigate through large amounts of financial data and report on relevant information which can be analysed quickly and simply was important to Age Concern Leicester when selecting a new business and accounting system.

Richard Willcocks continues, 'The implementation by Oak has been quick and efficient and I was delighted at how soon we were up and running with the system. Exchequer is an intuitive product with a user friendly interface that has helped enormously to speed up the learning curve we faced when acclimatising ourselves to the vagaries of a new financial product.'

Commenting on the relationship with Oak Software, Richard Willcocks concludes, 'I have been impressed with Oak's obvious abilities as a Value Added Reseller, and have found them to be efficient, professional and enthusiastic at all times. Our experiences with Oak and IRIS Enterprise Software have been very positive and I look forward to a long-lasting business partnership.'
