An excellent artice let down by your summary.

To say that firms who are not engaging in the above (and I believe that they should) are not worthy to be called true professionals is a nonsense.

How do you define 'the right thing'? Its all about giving the client what they want and if they don't require the added value services you mention, but do require static fees bought about by cost control isn't that the right thing too?
