KPMG has made a number of high level appointments to its global leadership team following the announcement of Michael Andrew as chairman.

As revealed back in May, Andrew will succeed Timothy Flynn as global chairman of KPMG International who is retiring at the end of September.

Andrew is currently chairman of KPMG in Australia and Asia Pacific and will be based in Hong Kong where he will lead the global network over a four-year term.

On the appointment he said: “My primary focus will be developing and empowering our people so they can execute on our strategy and help KPMG’s clients succeed in this increasingly complex world.”

New appointments into the global leadership team will move into their full-time roles on 1 October.

London-based Alan Buckle has been appointed deputy chairman and will be primarily responsible for driving global strategy with an emphasis on market development.

Buckle has been global head of KPMG’s advisory practice since 2008 and has focussed in the past on global expansion, integration and developing markets.

Mark Goodburn has been named global head of advisory ay KPMG International, taking over from Alan Buckle.

He is currently US vice chair of advisory and strategic Investments and also leads advisory in the Americas region, serving on the US firm’s Management Committee and KPMG International’s Global Advisory Steering Group.

Goodburn will be expected to provide leadership to KPMG member firms as they work with organisations to provide insights and address business challenges and opportunities.

Greg Wiebe has been named global head of Tax for KPMG International, succeeding Loughlin Hickey, who has retired from the firm.

Wiebe was managing partner of KPMG Canada’s tax practice and a member of KPMG’s Canadian Management Committee and International Tax Steering Group.

He has worked with many of the Canadian firm’s strategic clients across a broad range of industries, and in his global role is expected to support KPMG member firms in meeting the needs of clients who are navigating increasingly complex tax regulations.

Ernst Gröbl has also been appointed to a newly-created position as global deputy of Tax.  Gröbl serves as head of Tax for KPMG in Germany, as well as head of Tax for KPMG Europe and KPMG’s Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMA) region, focusing on major global clients and markets.

Bond ... James Bond...

Love the way this article is titled .... "KPMG global leadership team". Can't help thinking it sounds like one of those sinister organisations bent on world domination in a James Bond film. Or is it perhaps?
