PwC appoints UK Islamic finance leader

25 Feb - Big Four firm PwC has appointed Mohammad Khan as UK Islamic finance leader, responsible for leading and coordinating its UK Islamic finance practice.

Khan has been with the firm for 11 years, advising Islamic and conventional financial services companies on their strategic issues and on Shariah-compliant products and instruments. “Islamic finance has huge potential for our clients and I am excited to be able to help our clients find the right solutions in the UK for their businesses in this important and growing area,” he said.

UN climate change leader to join KPMG

18 Feb - Yvo De Boer, currently executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is to join KPMG. In his new role, De Boer will work with KPMG member firms in advising business, governments and other organisations on sustainability issues.

De Boer previously facilitated the recent climate change summit in Copenhagen and is a leading authority on sustainability.

Commenting on his new role, De Boer said: "Although it is the role of governments to provide the necessary policy frameworks, I have always maintained that business will deliver the necessary innovation and solutions, providing the right conditions are created. With KPMG, I now have a chance to help make that happen".

Blick Rothenberg chosen as technical partner for Tax Director Network

15 Feb - London chartered accountants Blick Rothenberg has been chosen as the Tax Director Network’s technical partner, alongside a leading international legal practice.

Its members comprise in-house tax specialists with overall responsibility for tax from large UK and international organisations, including FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies.

KPMG hires new financial management advisory team

3 Feb - KPMG has boosted its financial management team, hiring Jacky Ross as partner, Sheila Pringle as associate partner and Joy Voyle as director. The team will focus on the infrastructure, government and health sectors.

Jacky Ross previously worked for PwC Consulting where she focused on helping to build up the financial management practice and establishing and running the pan-European iAnalytics (business intelligence) business. Prior to that, she was a partner at Ernst & Young, and later a CEO of a new joint venture between Shell and Ernst & Young which she developed the business case for, and then built and ran as a commercial outsourced organisation. Ross co-founded consultancy Counterpoint LLP in 2006.

Sheila Pringle joins from Deloitte where she has spent the last six years helping to build their financial management and corporate services transformation practices within the public sector. Prior to joining Deloitte she spent eight years in the Andersen Consulting business.

Joy Voyle joins from Counterpoint LLP where she has delivered corporate services transformations with a range of central government clients since 2007. Voyle has 12 year’s consulting experience built on five years in finance in the insurance sector. Prior to Counterpoint LLP she worked for Cap Gemini, Ernst & Young and Willis Corroon.

The team will work with the firm's private and public sector clients to help re-shape their businesses.
