Practice Tip ' Learning to pass the buck
In my first two articles on the theme of client meetings I suggested three things that need to happen before you should provide a client with advice:
1) You should listen to the client's story with care;
2) You should repeat these back to the client until agreement is reached about the issues that a client wants to address in the meeting;
3) The client must give some indication of what outcomes they are looking for as a result of your helping them solve the problem.
