Isobel Sharp has begun her new role as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

Warm welcome
It is great to see a new person up in the top level and once there it is also good to post some projects for considerations, don't you all think so?
To begin with ;
1) mergers
2) streamlining the accountancy bodies
3) standardising the syllabus of accountancy bodies
4) helping the non RQBs out of their dilemna
5) forming smart alliances with IFAC bodies
6) establishing and maintain exam centres overseas
7) gaining acceptance of qualifications in overseas markets
I love this paragraph :
"Professionals must operate in the public interest, offering views and opinions, based on their skills and experience, be they in public practice, working in the private sector or for public benefit entities. I am determined that ICAS shall remain at the forefront of the debate promoting professional judgement over box-ticking."
Thank You.

ICAS new president
Mr Blaunt Straike,
Your point no. 5 has been realised by forming the Global Accounting Alliance from major IFAC accounting bodies around the world.
Your point no. 6 has just been implemented by offering students in Luxembourg to get qualified as CA outside UK.
The rest of your suggestions is either not a priority or out of context.
