IRIS Enterprise Software is announcing the recent adoption of Exchequer by Skills for Justice. The organisation was looking for a financial management system with detailed analysis functionality that integrated directly with Excel for easier access to project management information.

Skills for Justice is the sector skills council covering all employers, employees and volunteers working in the UK justice system. The organisation was using Sage Line 50 Financial Controller and manually updated Excel spreadsheets for its financial management. However, a lack of interoperability between the two packages meant this method was time consuming and inflexible.

'We felt Exchequer was the only system on the market that seemed to fit our requirements and budget,' comments Kate Watts, Finance Manager at Skills for Justice. 'The product saves us time and resources by simplifying data input. We also have greater control of financial transactions and budgets, as well as improvements in the way we report for management accounts.'

Skills for Justice went live with Exchequer in April this year and utilises a variety of the additional modules available such as Authoris-e' for greater control of budgets and cashflow. However, the ease with which Exchequer interacts with Excel is the strongest feature for the organisation.

Kate continues, 'We have trained all members of staff on how to place purchase orders and access the system through the Excel drill-down facility within their project management sheets. The feedback has been very positive and they all find it an easy tool to work with. The beauty of Exchequer is that it will allow us to grow as an organisation without needing to increase the number of staff we employ in the finance department. This will save us considerable costs in the long term which will certainly deliver a return on our investment.'
