28th September 2005, Maidenhead, UK - Intuit today announced its QuickBooks Payroll service has been accredited as meeting the requirements of the published Inland Revenue Payroll Standard, version number 6.1 and the relevant sections of the Inland Revenue Quality Standard version number 2.0.

The Accreditation scheme helps small businesses identify payroll software with the essential features necessary to calculate PAYE, NICs, Statutory Payments, as well as other payroll functions such as incorporating new legislation for the calculation of stakeholder pensions and student loan deductions.

QuickBooks Payroll guides users step by step through each payroll activity offering unparalleled ease of use. It is fully integrated with QuickBooks business bookkeeping functions, enabling a small business to manage its finances in one place without the need to retype data.

QuickBooks payroll incorporates online filing capability by Internet. For no extra charge, this allows small businesses to file their payroll returns online and thus benefit from the Government's tax free incentives to companies with less than 50 employees. Small businesses can get back up to £825 from the HM Revenue and Customs over five years.

Susan Lazareff, UK country manager, Intuit Ltd said: 'Following Quickbooks certification for online filing by the HMRC, we are now delighted to have received the HMRC's Payroll Standard Accreditation for QuickBooks Payroll. This is the result of our determination to offer our end users the highest standard of service and we are very pleased to have gained Government approval for QuickBooks.'

About Inland Revenue Payroll Standard
The Payroll Standard has specific sections covering the calculation of PAYE and National Insurance, the handling of statutory records, credits and deductions, the exchange of Inland Revenue PAYE returns and electronic payments. The criteria are periodically updated, to ensure that the standard reflects any changes to Inland Revenue guidance and legislation. In view of this, Payroll solutions are accredited for an initial 12-month period and must be re-accredited annually.
