The Revenue website states that where you are using approved developers software you can file a paper version of a computer generated copy of the return. However, see the link below as the return must be printed in greyscale and not black and white.
Wrong advice from HMRC online helpdesk
Rebecca, in that case HMRC online helpdesk are giving out wrong advice as I was advised yesterday that I MUST download the tax return from HMRC website & complete by hand - my computer generated exact copy would not be accepted.
Not quite
Actually, if you have software that produces an "identical" version of the return you can use computer output. If it is not clear, check with your software provider. This concession was introduced by HMRC to save accountants hand writing returns at this time of the year. It is a work around for emergencies only, but it works fine!
Hand written paper copy!!
Don't forget the paper copy must be handwritten and not just printed straight from your software!!
