Dawn raids target tax credit fraudsters. By Dan Martin
HMRC has arrested 13 people in relation to tax credit fraud following a large scale operation in Scotland.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, HMRC investigators and Strathclyde Police officers targeted addresses in the Paisley & Renfrewshire area. The Revenue said following the raids, thirteen people were "either detained or are assisting Revenue & Customs with their ongoing enquiries".
Eric Youngson, senior officer, HMRC criminal investigations, said: "Organised criminals are attacking the tax system in many different ways with the aim of stealing huge amounts of revenue.
