Feature: The future of audit - as Customs sees it
At the spring 2005 Softworld Accounting & Finance event in London, a Customs R&D chief presented his vision of the future of audit for corporate tax payers.
Alastair Stewart is head of R&D for the Customs audit and compliance wing. His talk covered a regulatory landscape that touched on information disclosure, corporate governance and technology issues. In his view, audit will become increasingly automated, with companies filing all their corporate information through a single Government Web gateway.
