HMRC official honoured for uniting software industry

HM Revenue & Customs official Morris Young was given the Theo van Dort award by software body BASDA for his role in promoting the idea of a global text-based standard audit file (SAF-T).

The format allows tax authorities to pick up electronic output from tax software and is being looked at by HMRC as a possible route for corporation tax electronic submissions.
