HMRC ramps up amnesties criminal investigations

HMRC will target thousands of tax evaders after launching its first 16 criminal investigations from its recent tax amnesties.
An HMRC spokesperson told AccountingWEB: "Several thousand more offshore related enquiries related to the NDO and the information collected from banks by HMRC on offshore customers have already started."
The criminal investigations have been aimed at specific categories of taxpayer which have so far resulted in raising nearly £500m.
