Kennedy signals 'liberal approach' to taxation
The "liberal approach" to taxation stands in stark contrast to the "complication, stealth and short-termism" that are the hallmarks of Labour's approach, Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has declared.
Kennedy announced that a new Tax Commission will be headed up by a former senior civil servant at the Treasury, Michael Williams.
He warned that Liberal Democrats have to demonstrate that the economy will be safe in their hands if the party is to challenge for power at the next election.
