New HMRC Adjudicator appointed

HMRC has announced the appointment of a new Adjudicator, effective from 20 April 2009. The appointment is necessary to replace Dame Barbara Mills, who has held the post for 10 years.

Dame Barbara joined HMRC from the Department of Public Prosecutions, having been the first woman to hold the role of Director, and in an echo of this move, the new Adjudicator, Judy Clements OBE, is presently working with the Independent Police Complaints Commission, in the Customer Services and Communications Directorate.
