New look online tax guidance

As part of a national advertising compaign HMRC have launched a set of online guides entitled “Finding out about tax regulations”. This batch is noticably "light" in style and comprises three sections is designed to help taxpayers decide whether they are self-employed or employed, whether they should be declaring rental income, as a landlord, or declaring income earned from on-line auction sites.

Although the guidance is fairly basic and does not carry any “health warnings”, for instance, the question “Are you employed or self-employed?" can be difficult for experts to decide.
