New rules on checking taper relief trading status and the Substantial Shareholdings Exemption. By Nichola Ross Martin

This article is looks at the expiry of Code of Practice 10 status check facility in respect of Substantial Shareholdings Exemption and introduction of a revised facility for Taper Relief which was announced in TB 84 in August, and subsequently superseded in September 2006.

Part of putting together a successful claim for the Substantial Shareholding Exemption "SSE" (Sch 7AC TCGA 1992), is establishing that the company in question is a trading company or the holding company of a trading group or subgroup.
