On 11 April 2007 an anonymous member asked if an accountancy practice was a business asset for CGT taper relief purposes.

In view of the December 2007 pre-budget report and the uncertainty about certain aspects of future CGT legislation, this is an extremely important issue.

Why no taper if Limited company?

Hi John - Could you please explain the comment that if shares are sold in a limited company which runs an accountancy practice, why there would be no taper relief? Surely they are as much a business asset as any shares in an unquoted trading company?
