Home secretary John Reid is to today draw for the first time an explicit link between terrorist financing and carousel fraud as part of calls for greater European cooperation in tackling the criminals who illegal keep hold of VAT on traded goods.
'The Guardian' reports that Reid will push for better EU collaboration during a meeting in Warwickshire of interior ministers from the so-called G6 – Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland.
It is believed discussions will focus on a new effort to combat carousel fraud which costs the EU €50bn (£33m) a year.
