Tax credits top official complaints

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) was beaten back into second place by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) in the Parliamentary Ombudsman's league, "Top 5 departments by number of complaints received 2007-08"

The Jobcentre Plus, whose CEO - Lesley Strathie, has just been appointed as CEO of HMRC, was the DWP service which recieved the most complaints.

The trouble with civil servants particularly at HMRC is that they have a mindset that says they should be collecting money and holding on to it, not actually giving it out and helping people.
