Geoff and Diana Jones, the couple who have taken their appeal against an HMRC settlements ruling to the House of Lords, were this week hailed as the tax personalities of the year at the LexisNexis Taxation Awards 2006.

The announcement drew a hearty cheer from more than 700 tax luminaries at the award dinner in London on Wednesday 24 May.

Former CIOT president Richard Mannion was another popular choice for a lifetime achievement award.

The couple well deserved an award for the hell that they have gone through and took a stand on an rather ambiguious taxation issue. The couple have my admiration.
