TAX NEWS: Game, set and match to HMRC
International tennis star Andre Agassi will have to pay tax on sponsorship income generated by using Nike and Head sports kit at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
Agassi lost his long running dispute with HMRC yesterday, when the House of Lords ruled in HMRC's favour that payments made in connection with activities carried out by a non-resident in the UK as a sportsman are subject to deduction of UK income tax at source where the payments are made by foreign companies to a foreign company controlled by him.
