Trust tax returns

  • HMRC has made several announcements regarding trust returns
  • There are problems with the online filing facility for trust returns
  • Some returns may be rejected and may have to be submitted on paper

HMRC has announced that letters confirming that trust returns have been received and processed without amendment will no longer be issued. HMRC Trusts has normally sent an acknowledgement letter to agents following the processing of a paper return which included a tax calculation which required no immediate amendment. As trusts are the only returns for which this is now done, the withdrawal of this facility should not come as a huge surprise to agents.
