Varney still to head HMRC big business review. By Dan Martin

Sir David Varney is to continue to lead HMRC's review of its relationship with big business even though he has stepped down as chairman of the government department.

As the Revenue's chairman, Sir David was asked by chancellor Gordon Brown earlier this year to examine how HMRC deals and relates with the UK's big businesses.

However, a few months later Sir David announced his resignation.
