The AccountingWEB.co.uk blog round-up: Who to watch
What are accountants talking about on the web today? Gina Dyer points her browser at some of the profession's A-list bloggers.
Mr Tax Justice
Richard Murphy’s blog is a platform for his thoughts and arguments in favour of corporate accountability and tax justice. Murphy is a chartered accountant, founder of the Tax Justice Network and director of Tax Research LLP. He's an old friend of AccountingWEB.co.uk, even if he has sometimes riled tax advisers by insisting that they should take a more principled stand on tax avoidance.

Thank you!
Thanks very much for the mention. I'm proud to be listed.
Could I also put in a plug for Glen Feechan at www.notjustnumbers.co.uk who writes a very informative blog and e-zine aimed at Financial Directors who want to go beyond the numbers.

The Accountants Coach
On the same theme.......
Can I recommend a blog for accountants at www.accountantscoach.com.
It is written by Carol Mclachlan who is an executive coach and chartered accountant. The blog itself covers interesting topics and provides common sense useful advice.
Following on from one topic I decided to get some 1 to 1 coacing (something I have not tried before) and in my particular case I found it very helpful to get some independant thoughts & guidance.
Worth a look

A little bit closer to home...
Gina's terms of reference were to find the must-read people in what has become known as the blogosphere - sites such as WordPress, Blogger etc. I don't think anyone would quibble with her selection, but I think we ought to acknowledge a few of those we overlooked, some of whom live pretty close to home, including, I would argue, the one who started it all off more than seven years ago on AccountingWEB.co.uk:
Practitioner's Diary (started Feb 2002); and his companion
FD/CFO's Diary (started Oct 2003).
Since then many, many AccountingWEB members (and editors) have stuck their oar in on the AccountingWEB blog page.
There is also the healthy Bloggers Crew who contribute to our US sister site, AccountingWEB.com. There you can find some great regular posts from the likes of Ron Baker (business development), Barbara Bix (The Top Line), K2 Accounting Technology talk, Scott Heintzelman (The Exuberant Accountant), Energized Accountant Bill Kennedy and Captain Excel (aka Bill Wood).
Enjoy their thoughts - and take part in the conversations!

Suitably flattered - many thanks Gina
Just for the record my BookMarkLee blog covers a lot more than career related advice. The main focus is 'ambitious accountants' and there's loads of tips and advice on practice management and related issues. I draw on this material, which has been built up over the last 2-3 years, when preparing many of my talks.
Another interesting accounting blogger of whom I'm aware is:
Phil Richards (who writes the Blevins Franks blog)
Accounting Bloggers
Congratulations and thanks to all these worthy accounting bloggers, most of whom I read regularly with interest.
It seems to me to be timely in this thread about Accounting Bloggers, to suggest a new category of accountant for special recognition:
Accounting Blaggers
In this week there can be only one winner of first place: please stand up and take a bow…………………….
Sir Fred Goodwin!!!
Wow...
Thanks to A Web for the plug
It's small world of us bloggers - I know everyone but Duane here...
Two to add:
Tax Justice Network Blog http://taxjustice.blogspot.com/
Association for Accountancy and Business Affairs http://visar.csustan.edu/aaba/jerseypage.html
Holy crap
...excuse the less than refined tones of normal AW commenters but that's my expression for something that makes me gasp.
It's a pleasure to say that I know and have met (in real life) all but two of those you've listed. I don't know Simon Goldie but that will be rectified about 5 nano-seconds after I hit the submit button.

There's another thing about blogging
It is addictive
It is time consuming
And when your blog is playing up (as mine is, badly, today) then it is immensely frustrating. Pretty much like having your right arm lopped off (well, not that bad...but)
And then there's the odd fact that we try to help each other - Dennis Howlett has been a God send to many mentioned here
He is to me today
