Accpac CEO David Hood will leave the ERP software developer following its acquisition by Sage.

Sage's US subsidiary, Best Software, said Hood would leave the company on 30 June, following completion of the integration of Accpac within Best.

Susan Sheridan, previously senior vice president of marketing at Accpac, will step up to become general manager of the Accpac business division, Best said.

'Although we're extremely disappointed to see David leave, we fully understand that his talents as a seasoned CEO are providing him with new and exciting opportunities, and we wish him well,' said Best CEO Ron Verni. He added that expected Sheridan would build ACCPAC into an important business unit within Best Software.

One of the challenges Sheridan will face is dealing with the overlap between Accpac's ERP portfolio and Best's CRM and back-office suites. Having gained experience as a channel manager with Accpac and comuter-aided design market leader Autodesk, Sheridan should be well equipped to cope with the challenge.

In the five years during which he led Accpac, Hood oversaw eight acquisitions and developed strategic alliances with the likes of IBM, Microsoft and Red Hat. Prior to Sage's intervention, Hood had notified the US Securities and Exchange Commission of his intention to make a public offering of the Computer Associates subsidiary's stock.
