UK finance software house CODA is preparing to launch its SME product CODA-Dream as a Microsoft .NET application at Softworld Accounting & Finance.
Dream was originally developed for Windows and became part of the CODA stable when it acquired the original developer, SquareSum, in late 2002. Since the acquisition, CODA has completed a revamp of the program's underlying database to operate under the Microsoft .NET framework. For users, this means easier integration with other programs and using Microsoft's Visual Studio .NET programming environment will speed up delivery of new versions, the company said.
While CODA-Dream 3.2 would qualify as a technical upgrade, the developer has not neglected functional enhancements. The new release will feature extended credit management tools including a diary system and a utility for producing arrears letters, a late payment interest log and bad debt provisioning.
The "events engine" that drives the credit management diary underpins other elements within the application such as an automated alerting system and report generator, so that warnings and regular reports can be dispatched to managers with limited intervention from the finance team.
Additional authorisation and workflow tracking features will allow users to check where reports and documents are within the system. CODA-Dream will also include a wider range of data definitions to give users more flexibility to cope with their specific requirements.
