Details of Excel security flaws offered on eBay

Microsoft and eBay moved swiftly in December to close down auctions of documents prurporting to disclose security vulnerabilities in Excel.

As reported by SecurityFocus editor Robert Lemos, eBay shut down bidding on two attempts by an anonymous security researcher to auction details of the security flaws.

According to Lemos, the vulnerability might allow a hacker to create an Excel file that would take control of a PC when it was opened and is being investigated by the Microsoft Security Response Center.
