Windows 7 sales trample Vista in the US

6 Nov – Software figures from NPD Group has revealed that initial US sales of Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system (OS) surpassed those of its predecessor Vista, by 234%.

Windows 7 launched globally on 22 October following months of largely positive feedback from users of pre-release versions of the OS. "A combination of factors impacted Windows 7 PC sales at the outset, but the trajectory of overall PC sales is very strong leading into the holiday season," said Stephen Baker at NPD.
