Last week's article discussed methods for manipulating the sheets within an Excel workbook file. There is a lot more that can be said on the subject, so we've decided to have another Sheets session this week.

You've already learned about what those sheet tabs mean, the little Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3 tabs that appear at the bottom of your spreadsheet.

Page set up across multiple worksheets

Andy is correct - this method does work in Excel 2003, but not in earlier versions. Unfortunately I'm still using Excel 2000, so Mrs Gemmell's solution of copying a "master" sheet's set-up details will be the method that I will have to use.

Formatting Multiple sheets

The best way of entering the same headers and footers etc on a selected range of sheets is to use Page set-up option from the File drop down menu. Note - this will overwrite any previous formats that you may have entered.

Formatting across multiple worksheets

I agree that formatting multiple worksheets by selecting several tabs is a useful facility.
However this function does not seem to work for page set-up settings. Despite having multiple tabs selected, changes to any page set-up details such as "print from tray 3" or "format page header" only apply to the visible worksheet, and not to the other selected worksheets (this applies to Excel 2000 - I assume it's true for later versions too).
Is there a way to overcome this?
