Cloud Computing and software as a service (SaaS) represent the IT industry’s best response to user needs in the internet era, according to Dr Katy Ring of K2 Advisory services.
“It’s frustrating when people refer to Cloud Computing and SaaS as hyped technology looking for a business case. The Cloud is an effective means for organisations to create and deliver digital services and products to a global, online marketplace,” she argued.
The Cloud is most disruptive for industries such as software, music and entertainment, where online trade in digitalised products has transformed existing business models. Online engagement has the potential to make a huge impact in professional services. But even for those who sell non-digital products, such as publishers who sell books through Amazon, the Cloud offers another sales channel and a new way to connect with customers.
On 30 September, Ring will expand on these ideas in an online seminar that will look at the benefits and risks of Cloud computing, and how small companies can use the new technology to their advantage. Sign up now to join her in this thought-provoking session.
