Re: Inherent assumption
May I make the bold, but arguably safe-as-houses, assumption that the vast majority of SMEs in the UK are for a complex multitude of reasons tied to in-house infrastructure and it'll be yonks before they're capable of migrating their systems to the cloud, even if they eventually break free from conventional wisdom and muster up the confidence to do so.
Recent news of Google outages won't be doing much to increase confidence in that direction either :)



Inherent assumption
There is an inherent assumption that professionals are using local server based applications. Moving applications into the internet cloud removes a lot of the issues mentioned. They don't all go away but they're one heck of a lot easier to manage.
