Sage moves on mid-market rival Accpac

Accountancy and business software developer Sage shook up the City with the announcement on 23 December that it had agreed to acquire Accpac International for £62.5m from Computer Associates.

The deal has been led by Sage's US subsidiary Best Software and is due to be completed by the end of February, subject to regulatory approval.

The company stated that Accpac will help it establish Sage a market-leading position in Canada and strengthen its offering for "larger SMEs" in the US.
