Software Satisfaction Awards The race is on for Software Satisfaction Awards 2009, writes Sift Media technology editor John Stokdyk.

Now in their fourth year, the Software Satisfaction Awards are based on the UK's biggest single business market research survey. In 2008, 5,967 members of AccountingWEB.co.uk, Finance Week, BusinessZone.co.uk, UK Business Forums, MyCustomer.com, TrainingZONE, HR Zone and KnowledgeBoard.com cast their votes for more than 20 deserving winners across the business software spectrum.

Accounting categories

Alongside HR & training and CRM prizes, the Accounting & Finance section covers software for:

  • Small business accounts
  • Mid-range accounts
  • Enterprise accounts
  • Web-based accounts
  • Practice management
  • Tax
  • Payroll
  • Paperless office
The Software Satisfaction Awards are divided into three main categories: Accounting & Finance; HR & Training; and customer relationship management. The 2008 awards were notable for the successes of several new generation software as a service suppliers including OctopusHR, KashFlow, Really Simple Systems and Netsuite.

Octopus director Geoff Burch explained that being able to implement user requests quickly played a vital part in keeping them happy. "The SaaS model works well. You can develop quickly, test and deploy something in no time. You don't have to wait six months," he said.

The Software Satisfaction Awards are run in conjunction with the Business Application Software Developers Association (BASDA), which sponsors prizes for green software innovations and co-operation within the industry, while the industry's Newcomer of the Year and Vendor of the Year will be chosen by a panel of judges from the leading contenders across all categories.

The Software Satisfaction Awards give software houses the opportunity to let their customers provide feedback on how their business applications perform. The scale of the online survey gives unrivalled insights into the market's shifts and movements and helps Sift Media to ensure that its coverage is closely aligned to members' needs and interests.

The awards scheme is now open for entries at the Software Satisfaction website.

Entry costs £75 for the first software product and £50 for each subsequent product or additional category. The deadline for entries is Tuesday 31 March 2009.
