Eduardo LiogorriExchequer Software co-founder and managing director Eduardo Loigorri looks ahead to the main issues that will concern visitors to Softworld Accounting & Finance in March 2004.

What is your focus for the spring Softworld Accounting & Finance event?
We shall be underlining our commitment to vertical industries by launching Distribution, Not-for-Profit, and Construction editions of our Enterprise Workgroup and Enterprise SQL products.

The focus as always with these products will be improved efficiency, productivity, and quality of management information and reports. We will be launching v5.6 of Exchequer Enterprise, which extends further the reporting capabilities within our software.

What are the most common problems users and prospects raise when they approach you?
Many industries have specific requirements, which are rarely catered for in off-the-shelf packages. This often results in the need for integrating third party applications. Users and prospects in major industry groups now want to move away from this approach, so that a total solution can be provided within a single application from one supplier.

How can you solve these problems?
Our advanced integration tools have enabled us to build an impressive portfolio of alliances with specialist software providers. However we are the only mid-range software vendor to develop our own vertical versions, such as our Construction Edition, which incorporates sub-contracts tax (CIS), applications for payment and valuations into the comprehensive project costing module.

AccountingWEB users frequently mention the need for better management information as their most pressing technology concern. What can your software do to improve users' management reporting?
We have also found that management reporting is the biggest function that businesses wish to improve when changing or upgrading their accounting software. However, many software providers continue to use techno-jargon which can be baffling and confusing to FDs and accountants. For this reason we will be launching an independently written white paper on management reporting for SMEs, which provides most of the answers to this potential minefield subject.
